Local Authorities Building control officers raise £1,500 for PACT

Local Authority Building Control Officers raise money for PACTLocal Authorities Building control officers from across South Yorkshire and the Humber swapped their inspection routines last month to raise money for PACT.

Lee Rourke, a Principal Building Control Officer for Rotherham Council’s Building Control department, nominated PACT as the sponsored charity for this year’s South Yorkshire and Humber Building Excellence Awards. The nomination was a very personal one as Lee’s 13-year old daughter, Jemima was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2007.

“PACT gave our family invaluable support both during the three years of treatment that she went through,” Lee said. “The charity was absolutely wonderful at a very stressful time in our lives and continued to provide support once the treatment had been successfully completed.”

The money was raised from a charity raffle at this year’s Building Excellence Awards event organised by building control departments of councils across Rotherham, Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley, North Lincolnshire, North-East Lincolnshire and Hull. After such a successful event the group are looking forward to sponsoring PACT again in the 2015 Building Excellence Awards.
