Glitterball raises £1,600 for PACT

Lizzie AppletonWe told you earlier this year about Lizzie Appleton and her friend Sarah Parker who were organising a charity ball called ‘Glitterball’ in Cottingham in September. The event was a great success and over 140 tickets were sold and there was a raffle and live entertainment with photos taken on the red carpet.

The event raised £3,366 which was split between PACT and Yorkshire Cancer research. Lizzie chose to support PACT and Sarah chose to support Yorkshire Cancer Research. When Lizzie was just 4 years old she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and was treated with Chemotherapy at Sheffield Childrens Hospital. Lizzie is now 23 years old and fighting fit and wanted to give something back to PACT for the way in which they supported her and her family and the other children and families who are now in the position that she was once in. Lizzie says

“PACT did a great job of supporting myself and my family through that difficult time. It was a really enjoyable evening and such a success that many people that attended are asking when the next one is already. We are really excited do another ball and It might even become an annual event! It has been brilliant to be part of fundraising for a charity so close to my heart, we both loved every minute of it and we’re both so pleased with the amount raised.”.
